Australia’s brightest stars are calling on the government to protect the local film and TV industry, which they say is under siege from funding cuts and greater competition. Cate Blanchett, Rose Byrne and Chris Hemsworth (right) are among many actors, writers and directors urging politicians to ensure local stories remain on screens by keeping content rules for free-to-air channels and extending them to new players like Netflix and Stan.
