BREATHTAKING OPPPORTUNITY
Crater cabins package comprises hobby farm with own tourism income stream
BUYERS have the choice of purchasing part or all of the award-winning Mt Quincan Crater Retreat southwest of Cairns.
Owners Kerry and Barb Kehoe (main picture) are “downsizing” but still want to stay in the area.
Marketing agent Nichole Duane said buyers had the option of buying the business, cabins, caretaker’s residence, reception and function centre for $2.5 million including 16.35ha or all houses and land, the business, cabins and function centre plus 57.6ha for $2.985 million.
“Located only minutes to the Yungaburra township and one hour from Cairns is this stunning property which has the most breathtaking views of the Tableland and beyond, including Lake Tinaroo, the Seven Sisters and the entire township of Yungaburra,” she said. Ms Duane said the property consisted of two houses, a caretaker’s residence, six cabins among rainforest and a reception area with a function centre.
“The property has an enclosed reception area attached to the function centre where all office work is conducted including check-ins with the function area to suit small weddings and business meetings and much more.
“Being on the top of the hill there is a true wow factor with the most breathtaking views of the Tableland, with big glass windows and open decks for the guests to get the true aspect of the beauty of the area.
“Words cannot describe the beauty of this property with complete privacy in the six self-contained, exclusive tree houses sensitively placed in the rainforest on the slopes of Mt Quincan.”
Ms Duane said accommodation was aimed at couples seeking a retreat with openplan bedrooms with a bathroom, an outdoor deck, a kitchen and some had outside showers.
“Breakfast and dinner hampers as well as romantic packages are available,” she said.
“The property has approval to build two more cabins for expansion – each cabin having its own lot making it possible to sell them off separately.”
Ms Duane said accommodation rates ranged between $285-$380 a night depending on the season with weekly packages available. The average stay was three nights.
“This property would suit a couple running the property or a family operation,” she said. “There is a wi-fi hut available for guests making it the ideal place away from home for business conferences or business trips.”
Ms Duane said the lifestyle hobby farm could comfortable carry 50 head of cattle with a three-bay machinery shed, a creek, cattle yards and fenced paddocks. “The property covers nearly 50ha and is suitable for viewing wildlife and bird watching through the nature walks,” she said.
“One highlight is the Mt Quincan summit where guests can go for a 360 degree view of the Atherton Tableland and the unique extinct volcano.”
Each cabin is fitted with walking maps and binoculars. For those seeking relaxation, massage therapists are available privately to the cabins.
