SUPER PLANNER GOES SOLO

- NICK DALTON

ACCOUNTANT and superannuation expert Rita Zappulla has gone out on her own again.

After working for Crowe Horwath in Cairns for the past 10 years, running their selfmanaged superannuation team, she has opened her own business, SMSF Strategic Advisors.

Ms Zappulla, who previously had an accountancy practice, said it was time again to be independent.

She said she would be using her experience at Crowe Horwath managing 200 self-managed superannuation funds to good use.

“Residents in Cairns and the surrounding area, who have a self-managed superannuation fund or are considering setting up one, can now locally get specialist advice from me,” she said.

The certified financial planner said her focus was on assisting clients to understand how their SMSF worked and help them plan for a comfortable retirement in the future.

“In addition I can provide specialist advice on estate planning, succession planning and Limited Recourse Borrowing in SMSFs,” she said.

Ms Zappulla said it had taken longer than expected to open the doors at 23 Scott St.

The born-and-bred Cairns resident who graduated from St Monica’s College and has a Bachelor of Commerce said business had been “slow and steady”.

“It’s very-much a niche area but the word is slowly getting out there,” Ms Zappulla said.
