Teen on theft counts

A TEENAGE boy who allegedly committed a number of property offences over the past five months has been charged. The 15-year-old from White Rock is facing seven charges comprising three counts of burglary, two counts of stealing and one count each of trespass and possession of suspected stolen property. These related to home break-ins where several items including computer tablets, gaming equipment, keys and a bicycle were allegedly stolen, and other thefts in both White Rock and Mt Sheridan. He will be dealt with under the provisions of The Youth Justice Act 1992.

Fresh riot charge

AN eighth person has been charged over a riot where a police car was smashed up and two officers were forced to run for their lives in a Cape York community. The 43-year-old Pormpuraaw man is charged with one count of wilful damage of police property in relation to the Monday night incident, as well as one count of burglary resulting from a separate incident on the same night. He is scheduled to appear in the Pormpuraaw Magistrate­s Court on September 12.
