drivers of a proposed $40 million high-rise development on the RSL’s Esplanade site and helped create the Pensions, Advocacy and Welfare Service. Current president Buster Todd said PAWS was Mr Turner’s legacy.
“It was his drive and tenacity about the welfare of veterans young and old that led to the service,” he said.
Mr Turner has been privately cremated and a memorial service will be held at the Cairns cenotaph opposite the RSL club next Friday (October 7) at 5pm.
