Be brave and come forward

- Nick Dalton nick.dalton@news.com.au

SOMEBODY knows that sometime early on September 3 he or she was driving a vehicle that struck Scott Bradley at Mossman.

The driver did not stop to offer help. Instead drove off, leaving Mr Bradley to die alone, in pain, in the dark.

The tragic death has left his family and friends seeking answers and seeking closure.

They want to know why the person did not stop because they believe that their son, brother and friend could have been saved.

The Bradley family has spent a month waiting, hoping, for answers.

The pain they feel over the death is only exacerbated by not knowing what happened.

Today the Trinity Beach family has made a raw and emotional plea to the driver involved to come forward.

There is a possibility that the hit and run was accidental, not deliberate.

In a heartbreaking letter, brother Michael said it was not about trying to bring that person to justice, but to give a glimmer of closure as they battle their ongoing grief.

The brother talks of forgiveness, more than seeking justice.

“Now we have to live in a nightmare from which we cannot wake, lying awake at night, wondering in hopelessness what happened to our son and brother that evening,” he says.

“Life will never be the same. Things cannot be reversed, but the right thing can still be done.”

The brother writes about how precious life is.

The letter implores the driver to put their mind at rest so, they too, can seek closure to an incident which must be tearing them apart.

It’s time to come forward for your peace of mind as well as the family’s.
