GRAND Seymour back at Bulldogs

- JORDAN GERRANS

CENTRALS Trinity Beach will go back to the future in 2017 as former coach Mick Seymour is appointed to lead the Bulldogs next season.

Seymour, who coached the Crathern Park-based club to preliminary finals in 2009 and 2010, beat out an eight-strong field, including incumbent Dale Hough, for the top job.

Seymour was replaced by 2004 Crathern medallist Tyson Lane after two seasons following the 2010 season and has coached juniors since.

Bulldogs vice-president Brett Macey said the players had a say in the decision.

“Mick has got a passion for the future club and the junior group coming into our senior squad,” Macey said.

“The players made a major part in our decision making.

“This is the players answer, they were in the decision makcould ing process. “We had a nominated player on the selection committee, nominated by the players.

“This is the first time we have had a player in on the process, it worked fantastic.

“Our future vision to be the destination club with the best people in pursuit of unity, success, strong values and financial independence is why we have chosen Mick to assist our club to reach these key pillars.”

Hough took the Bulldogs to a preliminary final against Port Douglas in his first season.

The Cairns Post was blocked from speaking to Seymour about his vision for 2017.

“We are letting Mick settle in with a clear understanding of the club’s objectives before media communication begins,” Macey said.

“At this stage all communication will come through myself on behalf on the football club for all media.”
