BEACHES TO DAINTREE

REEF fishing has been fantastic with coral trout dominating most bags. All the local reefs have produced fish including Oyster, Arlington, Thetford, Moore and Sudbury. The trout are starting to roe up and Daintree River feeding hard in preparation for a spawn probably next month. Spanish mackerel have been plentiful around the islands and reef with some big fish caught on the troll and on floated pilchards. The Cairns Inlet has seen fingermark, gold spot cod, mangrove jacks, salmon and barra caught on live baits. A few prawns have started to show up again in the inlet also.
