BEN’S BIG HAUL ON TOP DESPITE WIND AND RAIN

THE Tinaroo Barra Bash was run last weekend as a Catch & Release Tournament for the first time.

With 709 nomination­s overall it turned out to be another highly successful event, especially considerin­g the wet and windy conditions on Saturday.

Fish had to be measured on a provided Brag Mat and photograph­ed for submission into the comp.

Overall 71 barramundi, 36 sooty grunter and one sleepy cod were submitted in photos.

Champion Angler went to Ben Tunsted with 14 barra ranging from 62cm-120cm for a total length of 1324cm.

Longest Barra Men: Dylan Jones 141cm

Longest Barra Ladies: Kylie Coutts 98cm

Longest Barra Junior Boy: Ashley Holm 110cm

No barra was submitted for considerat­ion in the junior girl section.

Several 50cm sooty grunter were also caught and released during the comp.

The lucky entry draw of $10,000 cash was won by Harry Henricks from Yungaburra.

Tinaroo Dam is only at 44 per cent capacity and a sixknot speed limit has been imposed because of hazardous obstacles surfacing.
