Time to drive justice

DESPITE all the political huff and puff, beating chests and flexing of muscle, car thefts continue with impunity.

The loss of a family car impacts severely on the owner’s daily routine. For some, it changes their life. The additional financial burden, family disruption and no doubt, on occasions, lack of transport causes loss of employment, which in turn creates further trauma for the innocent.

When will we find just one politician in Brisbane to wake up to the injustice of our judicial system, to pursue justice for the innocent, including mandatory reimbursem­ent of financial loss.

There should also be appropriat­e punishment for the offender.

How about forfeiture of the right for a driver’s licence for a number of years as well as many weekends of washing cars for charity in a prominent public place?

Failing some timely initiative by any political party, the question is: when will the community tell our political representa­tives enough is enough? George Mansford, East Trinity Europe arrive with their expertise in this type of constructi­on.

These men and their families came to integrate and make the most of their new country and have helped make Australia what it is today.

Thank goodness the idealist greenies were not around back then, though.

If they were, Australia would never have seen such a wonderful icon constructe­d.
