Atom still wears learner plate
PROMISING colt Our Atom looks set for a return to Cluden Park in Townsville in the coming weeks.
Our Atom, trained by Fred Wieland, was beaten just under three lengths in the $30,000 Two-Year-Old Colts and Geldings Pallarenda Stakes on Saturday afternoon at the track.
Molongle Fire, for Ben Williams, claimed the Colts and Geldings, while All Girls Rock, from the Bub Baker stable was too smart in the Fillies Maiden Plate.
Our Atom, by Red Element from El Mansura, led at the 800m mark of the 1000m event before dropping back to second on the turn.
Wieland’s starter in the Fillies race, Instant Lute, finished seventh earlier in the day.
Jockey David Simmons told Wieland Our Atom still had some learning to do.
