My Cairns

I LOVE living in Gordonvale and Cairns! My family migrated from the UK in the late 1950s and settled in Gordonvale. I had an idyllic childhood: growing up in a large family, playing sport and swimming in the local freshwater creeks. I have been fortunate to live, work and raise my family at both Mareeba and Atherton, before returning to the Cairns region. The drawcards are the climate, the friendliness of the people, facilities such as the Esplanade, the wonderful restaurants and diverse coffee shops and the relaxed lifestyle. There are plenty of opportunities to be involved in one’s sport of choice and I play regular tennis, golf and practise yoga. Cairns is not too big, not too small — in fact, it’s just right.
