‘Boundless’ prospects

-

VODAFONE Australia chief executive Inaki Berroeta has urged Far North businesses to further embrace technology. In a speech at Friday’s Cairns Chamber of Commerce business lunch, he said opportunities were boundless in the Far North.

“A lot of businesses today, whether in tourism, education or farming, you are competing on international markets, and a lot of your competitors are embracing technology,” he said. “It’s important to have the means to understand how technology can be implemented in business.”

He said domestic roaming would “stimulate investment” in remote areas of Australia, including Far North Queensland.

“The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is conducting an inquiry into whether domestic roaming should be introduced in Australia,” he said.

“It would mean mobile towers in regional and rural areas, which are mostly publicly funded, would be available to everyone – regardless of which telco owns it.
