Suns gun returns to home turf

-

GOLD Coast Sun Jack Bowes will return to Griffiths Park this afternoon for a rare training session with his junior club Cairns Saints.

The talented midfielder was left out of the Suns squad for their second JLT community series game against Essendon at Harrup Park Country Club to head to the Far North for the Suns Community Camp.

A group of the Suns senior listed players will train with AFL Cairns club Cairns Saints this afternoon at Griffiths Park from 4.30pm until 6pm.

“It’s very exciting, I was over the moon to hear that news – the city of Cairns is obviously close to my heart, as is the wider North Queensland region, and so I am rapt the team can get up there and spread the game,” Bowes said.

Bowes picked up 11 touches, six kicks and five handballs to go with two marks in his first pre-season game against Brisbane last week.

Suns players will take part in clinics and school appearances around the Far North today and tomorrow as part of their annual pre-season camp.

Manunda Hawks junior Jarrod Harbrow will also be in the region for the camp but his anticipated Round 1 return is now also unlikely.

Coach Rodney Eade said Harbrow’s first match was likely to be in an NEAFL practice match and he was unlikely to have enough conditioning to play the QClash.

Fellow Far North product Charlie Dixon picked up six touches and took two marks in Port Adelaide’s loss to St Kilda on Thursday.
