Mareeba are smoking hot

MAREEBA have sent out a warning shot to their rivals after smashing Atherton 52-4 in a pre-season trial at Davies Park on Saturday night.

The two teams will meet again for Round 1 of the 2017 season at the same venue on March 11.

Tully had a 24-all draw with Townsville club Western Lions, while Edmonton Storm went down 40-30 in an away trip to play Charters Towers Miners.

The Storm could be looking for a trial opponent after the club’s Super Nines competition was cancelled because of lack of interest, with many clubs citing it was too close to the Round 1 kick-off.
