On weekend rates

-

Re: penalty rates cut. So does this also mean that employers no longer have to pay fulltime staff for 10 days a year to not come into work? It’s not only retail that bears the brunt of public holiday expenses. Beth, Kanimbla Perhaps the Queensland Government should trial the Sunday penalty rates with its own workforce first to see just how acceptable it is going to be first-hand. Greg, Cairns Whether you agree or not, would you like your boss to cut your pay by a quarter or half? No brainer I reckon. Richo, Bentley Park This weekend penalty rates cut is bull, nothing worse than having to work weekends away from family or even overtime when you work all week. This type of work, including bonuses, should be at decent rate and should all be tax free. Why work the overtime to help out at work or to help yourself to not take the reward. WB, Kamerunga Well done Fair Work Australia, now no one will want to work on Sundays. More unemployment liberals will be laughing all the way to the bank. David, Woree
