Retiree Liz won’t let rain stop play

- JACOB GRAMS jacob.grams@news.com.au

GOLF golf is often the best way to go in trying conditions and it seems to do the job for Cairns Golf Club member Liz Edmonds.

A scattering of people defied the dire weather forecast for Sunday stableford play yesterday, including the Kewarra Beach player, who heads to the Woree course with husband Peter four times a week.

“It was very wet and soggy under foot and it was a bit of a struggle,” Edmonds said.

“I think a few people got scared off because they said it was going to rain, but it turned out to be a beautiful day.

“We play about four days a week. We’re retired so we get out there as much as we can.

“My husband Peter and I are members and we usually play with other retired members.

“It’s lovely. We actually talked to two young guys later in our round who had never played the course and they wanted to join us, which was nice.” FNQ club Paradise Palms in the mix for top golfing gong Tomorrow’s Cairns Post
