Heat happy to wait until hurt striker fully fit

- JACOB GRAMS

THE on-again, off-again relationship between Jamie Carroll and his troublesome hamstring could keep the FNQ Heat skipper out of action until after Easter, with the club keen to get him back to 100 per cent.

The striker made a shock return against Brisbane Roar Youth last weekend but it proved a little too early and coach Tim Campbell said a plan was needed to get him fully fit before returning.

“We had a little bout of injury that went through the team, but actually all of them have pulled up OK,” he said.

“The only one we’re not expecting to be fit and ready to go this weekend is Jamie Carroll with his repeat hamstring.

“The truth of it was that Jamie pulled up after about 10 minutes and said that he needed a bit of strapping and we thought he could carry on but we let him go until halftime, when he told us he couldn’t sprint.”

Carroll is expected to be out for a couple of weeks.

Carroll will be the only man unavailable going into the match against Moreton Bay United at Barlow Park on Saturday night with the squad welcoming Bronson Koppen and MJ Nkiwane back into the fold after suspension.

Moreton Bay’s Round 3 fixture with Olympic, originally rescheduled from Saturday to Tuesday, has been moved to a later date.

This allows the Jets to avoid a short turnaround.

WE THOUGHT WE HAD IT TO A PLACE WHERE HE COULD ACTUALLY PERFORM AND GET TREATMENT
