Puppies enjoy big day, now need new homes

- DANAELLA WIVELL

THERE were a lot of very good dogs being celebrated at the Young Animal Protection Society during National Puppy Day yesterday.

The day honours the cutest members of society and also brings to mind the reasons to have one as part of the family.

YAPS kennel assistant Amy Bender said puppies were perfect for families with children and older dogs.

“People with small kids are OFFER ENDS MARCH 31 perfect for puppies because the puppy gets to grow up with the kids,” Ms Bender said.

“If you do have a job and are looking at getting a second dog it’s a good idea to get a puppy.

“Puppies will respect the older dog and won’t try to be top dog in the house, which will keep them from fighting. The same thing works with cats.”

She said 45 dogs were available for adoption at YAPS at the moment, with a number of them being litters of puppies looking for forever homes. Watch the cute video online www.cairnspost.com.au
