HALL OPTION WITH PCYC OUT THE DOOR

-

MAYOR Bob Manning’s hopes for a PCYC attached to the relocated Gordonvale cop shop are shattered, but funding for a new school hall could provide an alternative. Treasurer Curtis Pitt has promised Gordonvale State High School $4.5 million for a new hall that may be available for community use. “Schools administer their halls and regularly make them available for use as sporting facilities and to host events or even cultural activities,” he said. “The Gordonvale State High P&C is particularly active and once this new $4.5 million hall is built, they will be able to hire it out.” Another $1 million will be spent upgrading the school’s special education facilities, while Bentley Park College’s existing hall gets a $1.5 million upgrade. Further afield in the Barron River electorate, Caravonica State School is also in line for a new $4.5 million hall.
