1 More lung woes
BRISBANE: The parliamentary committee investigating black lung disease in Queensland coal mine workers has had its brief expanded. It now includes workers on Brisbane’s numerous tunnel projects. These workers may be suffering from silicosis, which is a similar disease to black lung.
2 Extra bogus shifts
SYDNEY: NSW Health has admitted a bogus doctor worked at two additional hospitals during the decade he spent posing as Indian practitioner Dr Sarang Chitale. Shyam Acharya had worked at Manly, Hornsby, Gosford and Wyong hospitals between 2003 and 2014, but health authorities now say he also did shifts at Mona Vale Hospital between January 2008 and February 2013 and at Royal North Shore Hospital in November 2012.
3 Salvos rewarded
MELBOURNE: Hawthorn Football Club says it will pay $66,000 to the Salvation Army as punishment for one of its pokies venues operating illegally. Its Vegas pub at Waverley Gardens was found to have been unlicensed for four days.

CANBERRA: Former Telstra executive and NBN board member Justin Milne has been appointed the new chairman of the ABC, taking over from James Spigelman.
