Salty shot dead

A THREE-METRE saltwater crocodile has been shot dead at a beach in Western Australia’s Kimberley region. The animal was spotted about 1km south of Cable Beach Surf Club on Monday and was shot after it couldn’t be trapped, the Department of Parks and Wildlife said.

New arrest warrant

A SECOND arrest warrant has been issued for Queensland Nickel director Clive Mensink and his uncle Clive Palmer has been ordered back to Federal Court to help locate his elusive, globetrott­ing nephew. FOREIGN Minister Julie Bishop insists an extraditio­n treaty with China remains in Australia’s national interest despite the deal being withdrawn from parliament as it teetered on the brink of defeat. “It is very much in Australia’s national interests for us to have the highest level of cooperatio­n with China and other countries with whom we have an extraditio­n treaty,” she said.
