Hub adds specialist to scheme operation
JOBS group My Pathway has appointed Anne Russell as coordinator of the Mooroobool Hub.
Ms Russell will assist in dayto-day engagement and operations and is passionate about raising awareness for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.
The Mooroobool Hub hosts a range of community programs including a playgroup, a sewing club and regular reading classes.
Ms Russell said she was eager to help build on the hub’s activities to benefit the region.
“We have the ability to make a positive difference in Mooroobool, and I’m looking forward to engaging with locals to understand how we can better meet their needs,” she said.
“We want to be able to provide the community with opportunities to connect and get information to improve their health, wellbeing and employability.”
Ms Russell said she looked forward to bringing her FASD experience to the new role and had already been approached to give presentations.
“FASD is frequently misdiagnosed or untreated in Australia,” she said. “There is still a limited public understanding of how little alcohol is needed to cause the condition, which is a brain injury, and how we can better prevent and manage the illness.”
Ms Russell joins Nyamie Cedric, who has been growing the organisation’s presence over the past two years, in management.
