Anzac Day assault claim

POLICE have charged a Mareeba man following an incident on Anzac Day.

It will be alleged that the 44-year-old was having an argument with a 39-year-old Garbutt man about 6.40pm on Byrnes St.

Police alleged that the argument escalated and the Mareeba man punched the other man in the head multiple times.

He was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and will appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court on May 8.
