Day looks for leg-up

-

JASON Day hopes teaming up with form golfer Rickie Fowler at the new-look Zurich Classic of New Orleans will help kickstart his misfiring season. World No.3 Day will tee up with No.9 Fowler at TPC Louisiana in the US PGA Tour event’s new strokeplay format, which features two-man teams in foursomes (alternate shot) during the first and third rounds and four-ball best ball in the second and fourth.

Smith effort in vain

AN unbeaten half-century to Australia skipper Steve Smith wasn’t enough to stop Kolkata Knight Riders joining Mumbai at the top of the Indian Premier League standings. Robin Uthappa struck an inspired 87 and captain Gautam Gambhir added 62 as two-time champions Kolkata swept to a seven-wicket victory over Smith’s Rising Pune Supergiants. An unbeaten 51 by Smith helped Supergiant reach a solid total of 5182, only for Uthappa and Gambhir to guide Knight Riders to a winning 3-184.
