My Cairns
I have lived in north Queensland my whole life and was born in Cooktown. I went to the Northern Territory for a bit but I always seemed to come back here for some reason. I guess home is where the heart is and where family is. I love fishing and prospecting. I like going to Cape York and the Einasleigh River to fish. In the river you can get some red claw and bream. It’s a secret as to where I go prospecting though. I have found bits and pieces. I like Einasleigh because there are not many people there. The town is about five hours’ drive from Cairns. We have a post office, a pub and a police station with no cops. One of the Forsayth cops says Einasleigh people get away with everything. Sometimes they ride their lawnmowers to the pub.
