If the slaughter of crocodiles and their eggs in the NT is so successful, how come not many people swim in Darwin Harbour? Massive, filtered rock pools on our beaches is the only way to keep humans safe. Rex, Edmonton Bill of Mooroobool (9/5) is right. Take away the climate alarmists’ computer models and all they have is 40 years of failed predictions or what’s now known as “fake news”. Miss T, Tolga From birth to death every skill you learn is by practice. The more you practice the more skilled you might become. Matchett, Parramatta Park University fees increase. In the meantime we are to give Iraq an extra $110 million, Yemen $10 million, Afghanistan a whopping $240 million, $71 million to build a new education system for Myanmar, $40 million to the Philippines for the autonomous region of Mindanao. Who gives a Gonski indeed? Poor fellow, my country. David Clapham, Woree The tide of protectionist, racist, hatefilled politics of recent times has thankfully turned. Those who try to keep the momentum (ie Trump, Hanson, Le Pen) have failed. With the election of Macron, Australia says Vive la France. Manson Arborsyde, White Rock After 31 years of taxis in Cairns I have still not been offered a bottle of water. Used Uber twice and two bottles offered. Andy, Whiterock Anyone considering voting for the left needs to make sure they are comfortable with the economic chaos in Greece and Venezuela. The budget will show whether the Turnbull-led LNP has also abandoned economic sense to buy votes. I sincerely hope not. Australia is at a tipping point. Are there now too many handout hunting ‘taker’ voters and too few net taxpayers to achieve an economically, responsible, democratic election? Joanne, Mt Sheridan On Warren Entsch slamming Mayor Bob Manning and former mayor Kevin Byrne (CP 9/5). Kevin Byrne gave the city the lagoon and the boardwalk to name a few. Cr Manning has given us the new wonderful precinct (Munro Martin Parklands) across from the new entertainment centre (Cairns Performing Arts Centre) and has been a very active mayor. You, Warren, on the other hand have promised a bridge over the inlet, a monorail to the Cape and many more pie in the sky rubbish. Warren, you have delivered little for the region and I won’t be voting for the Liberals this time around. Paul, Cairns City
