The Cairns Post

On other matters

-

I, like many others, are sick and tired of NRL players reported for drug busts, addictions, rehab etc. I know it’s news but the NRL itself does nothing positive as far as suspensions etc. The whole system is negative and that’s not a good thing for sponsors. Robert, Earlville Don (18/5). Melbourne started with trams in 1884, Perth in 1899 and Adelaide in 1878. By 1950 Adelaide had closed all trams except Glenelg. It is far too late for Cairns to start now. Higgs, Tolga Until parents once again take responsibility for their children the crime rate will increase. Get parents to recompense the victims and then they may keep their children home where they belong. Anne, Edmonton Re: Trevor Hardwick’s toll idea. We have no freeways or tunnels and certainly not the volume of big city traffic. Cannot work. OK, Yorkeys Knob Why do so many drivers insist on sitting at traffic lights playing with their phones until well after the lights have turned green? It’s annoying. I see it every day. Steven, Gordonvale People and town planning don’t mix. Construct a footpath and people walk on the road. Create a pushbike lane and they ride on the footpath. Mark, Westcourt David Cazzulino (letters 18/5). Stopping Reef boats dumping raw sewage in the sea each day should be the first priority in local marine conservation. Clean up our own backyard before worrying about coal issues and farm run-off. Auntie, Yorkeys Knob Concerning Donald Trump sharing classified information to Russians. Left wing have all got their knives out; didn’t say anything about Obama giving billions of dollars to Iran. Shane, Kanimbla Marvellous to see Townsville mayor challenging the greenie alarmist orthodoxy on the “dying reef” (CP 18/5). Now, if only our own elected reps would do the same, we could derail the green gravy train and rebuild our tourism industry. Miss T, Tolga
