Trompf signs off after 30 years with News

- HAYDEN SMITH

FORMER Cairns Post general manager Nick Trompf has resigned from News Corp Australia after a media career spanning more than 30 years.

The Cairns resident (far right) has most recently been the company’s executive general manager of regional publishing.

“I’ve had an amazing career with News Corp, which has given me a lot of opportunities,” Mr Trompf said.

“But at some point everyone realises it’s time, and it’s now time for me to take on another challenge.”

While yet to find a new role, Mr Trompf said he and his family planned to stay in the region.

After starting his media career in Victoria, he moved to Cairns in 2001.

Mr Trompf recently played an influential role in driving News Corp Australia’s successful takeover of Australian Regional Media.

News Corp publishing chief operations officer Damian Eales said Mr Trompf “has had an outstanding 30-year career with News Corp Australia”.

“We wish he and his family all the best for the next chapter in their life,” he said.
