THE site of a former Cairns brothel has hit the market with potential redevelopment flagged for the Portsmith property.

On about 2095sq m, the freehold building at 7 Owen Cl is being marketed by an expressions of interest campaign through Ray White Commercial Cairns.

“This property is 1.5km from the Cairns CBD in the centre of a mixed use precinct that includes industrial, retail shopping centres, bulky goods and the Cairns Port,” selling agent Scott Green said.

“The existing large, residential style building of about 430sq m has previously been used as a brothel and can continue trading within this use under the Cairns Town Plan.

“The current building accommodates a reception, office, eight rooms (five being bedrooms), store room, laundry and double garage.

“The property also has an external concrete driveway, 10 car parking spaces, landscaping and high metal security fencing.”

Mr Green said the building, situated on a level allotment, was primed for development.

“Town planning advice suggests there is good planning grounds to provide support for a material change of use for a range of industrial uses,” he said. “The site is close to landmarks including Queensland Transport, Bunnings Warehouse, Homemakers Centre, Cairns Regional Council Chambers and the Cairns Port.”

Expressions of interest close at 4pm on Thursday, July 13.
