CAIRNS police are investigat­ing after a man was allegedly armed with a pitch fork in Earlville. Many crews responded. It is alleged the man threatened someone on De Jarlais St. He was taken into custody just after 5pm.

Truck crash

A TRUCK driver has escaped serious injury after his vehicle rolled yesterday on the outskirts of Mareeba. Emergency services were called to the scene on Vaughan St about 8.30am to find the semi-trailer on its side and blocking the road. One lane had to be closed for just over two hours while heavy machinery was brought in to right the vehicle and tow it away. The truck was carrying soil when it rolled.

Speeding driver

FAR Northern police are warning motorists that the Mulligan Highway should not be used as a drag strip after a woman was caught for an alleged high speed offence. The 23-year-old was detected travelling at 131km/h in a 100km/h zone on Monday morning. The Ravenshoe Road Policing Unit intercepte­d a Toyota RAV4 at about 11am near Saltbag Creek, Maryfarms and the driver was fined $588.

Teen charged

POLICE have charged a 14-yearold Yarrabah boy following investigat­ions into a White Rock burglary earlier this year where two cars were stolen. The teen was allegedly with a group who gained entry to the Malibu Cl residence in March and stole car keys before taking the vehicles. He was taken into custody on Sunday morning and was subsequent­ly charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and one count of burglary, along with other unrelated property offences.
