Law firm sets up in Innisfail
INNISFAIL residents will have easier access to legal staff at Maurice Blackburn when their new Cassowary Coast office opens today.
Cairns principal Tanya Straguszi said it was “extremely important” the business had a presence in regional areas across Queensland.
“We already have existing clients in the area and if they are injured or going through a tough time then it can be extremely uncomfortable and inconvenient travelling over an hour to meet with one of our lawyers,” she said.
I also believe ... that every- one should have access to expert and specialised legal services no matter where they live.”
The Grace St, Innisfail branch will offer advice and legal assistance on motor vehicle accident claims, workers compensation, public liability, estate litigation and administration, superannuation claims and industrial deafness.
The firm has a visiting office on the Tablelands too, where a lawyer is present on a weekly basis.
“On the Tablelands we not only provide legal advice to clients but we are also heavily engaged in community events and organisations,” Ms Straguszi said.
“We intend to do the same in Innisfail and support the community that supports us and what we are trying to achieve for our clients.”
Ms Straguszi also pointed our the firm’s long history of supporting workers, values that aligned with those of the Australian Workers’ Union.
“This is a long-standing and strong union who have a large presence in regional Queensland, particularly in Innisfail,” she said.
“We also have staff members who are originally Innisfail locals or have connections to the area, so our team is very excited about offering our expert services to the Innisfail community.”
