AUSSIE HIP HOP STAR TO DUET WITH NEMESIS AZEALIA BANKS ON NEW RECORD IN SHOCK MOVE

- CAMERON ADAMS

IGGY Azalea is recording with her hip hop nemesis Azealia Banks.

The two women have been trading blows in a nasty feud for several years, with Banks one of the first people to call Azalea out for appropriating black culture.

Banks coined the phrase “Igloo Australia” for Azalea and slammed her for not getting involved in Black Lives Matter marches in 2014.

“It’s funny to see people like Igloo Australia silent when these things happen,” Banks said. “Black Culture is cool, but black issues sure aren’t huh?”

The Australian rapper tweeted to fans yesterday morning: “I don’t expect you guys to understand why I would collaborate with someone who has publicly said they hope I die.”

She then added: “This has been something extremely negative for so long, if there is a way to make it positive and also be creative together, I’m here for it.”

When a fan said Banks had made Azalea’s life “hell” and asked why she would now help her, the Australian rapper said: “Well, I don’t know how much help I’ll be, the gp (general public) dislikes me too. Lol. I’m just in a different place now. I think it’s good for female rap.”

The publicity from a possible collaboration would be a win for both women, whose careers rely on maximising media controversy.

Azalea’s comeback has been stalled by two flop singles – Mo Bounce peaked at 63 in Australia and missed the US and UK Top 100 while the follow up Switch made No.180 in Australia and has yet to chart anywhere except Canada, where it made No.39.

The rapper’s second album, Digital Distortion, was due to be released last Friday, but was quietly yanked from release.

It now has no confirmed date beyond some time later this year.

Azelea confirmed the duet would appear on the album, which would maximise publicity for both women.

After Azalea’s fans tweeted her with rumours Banks did witchcraft against the Australian and wanted her deported she told them: “Yes I know everything that’s been said but you know what I really wish people would give me a second chance.”

Azalea has done major promotional duties for both singles, including interviews with Australia.

Singer Halsey also slammed Azalea recently stating: “She had a complete disregard for black culture. F---ing moron. I watched her career dissolve and it fascinated me.”

Doing promotion for Switch on Australian radio, Azalea stated: “I thought it was a bit of a strange thing to throw that out there, but she’s young and I hope she learns maybe to be a bit less judgmental when she’s kind of in the same shoes.”

Banks is more famous for her online feuding than her music – most recently filing a police report against Russell Crowe, alleging he abused her at a party, which the Aussie movie star denied.
