Riding for a good cause
A West Australian man who will ride 2700km to raise money for amputees will begin his trek today in Cairns. Mike Shaw’s involvement in a camp for young people living with amputation, limb loss and difference, inspired him to create Riding4AmpCamp. “Young people from Cairns have previously attended AmpCamp and we wanted to show them our support,” he said. “And, Cairns quite simply is a beautiful town to begin an epic ride from.”

Through his ride, Mr Shaw hopes to allow every young person living with amputation, limb loss or limb difference across the country to take part in future camps.
“Amputation and limb loss is a forgotten space. For those that join this community it is often through the most horrible life threatening situations,” he said.
Mr Shaw will finish on August 8 in Sydney. Details are on the group’s Facebook page.
