A FIRED-UP crowd at Cazalys could not contain their excitement as the trials and tribulations of last night’s Origin decider played out in front of them on giant television screens.

Although maroon was the dominant colour in the sea of punters at the club, more than a few cockroaches had also found themselves far from home in the northern regions of Queensland.

Bartender Adrian Sitera had only witnessed one Origin series at Cazalys but said there was always a “rowdy” crowd.

Fans started trickling into the club about 5.30pm.

“Everyone’s having a good time. It’s big here,” he said.

“I always wear a maroons jersey and you always get some good remarks in with the bad but it is all fun and games at the end of the day.”

Settling in to watch Queensland’s “best team ever”, Trinity Bay State High School teacher Graeme Jones shared a few beers with mates.

“Billy Slater is just great. It’s been a real great series this year,” he said.

NSW supporter Matt Yates had just moved to Cairns from Newcastle and felt adrift in maroons territory.

But fellow Blues fan Wayne Kelly from Bayview Heights comfortably sat with a beer waiting for the game to start.

The Origin decider drew more than 50,000 spectators to Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. BARRY Minster has invested $1500 on an electric dream but has no idea when it will become reality, despite placing his order nearly a year ago.

He is one of about 400,000 early adopters who flooded the order book for the Tesla Model 3, which went into full-scale production in the US this week ahead of the first customer deliveries by the end of the month.

Minster, who lives in the Melbourne suburb of Collingwood and drives a Volkswagen Polo GTI, is a long-term electric car fan who bought into the dream of billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk when he announced plans for a car that would rival a BMW 3 Series on size, travel 350 kilometres on a single charge and would be priced from $46,000 in America.

But their cars are unlikely to arrive in Australia before 2019.

“I have some concerns. There is going to be a big hill for Elon to climb,” Minster says. But, he said, he was happy to wait until then.
