One visitor, Jane Leadley ,attended the coaching session with George Neilson, while three members shot a Short Canberra round. A general meeting followed the shoot. The club welcomed Ren Wachtler as a new member.

Results Short Canberra Round: (consists of 90 arrows each at 50, 40 and 30m on a 122cm face) Open Men’s Compound: R Wachtler 737 Master’s Men’s Compound: T Goodwin 841 Veteran Men’s Compound: R Hodgetts 833.

Members will shoot Indoor 18m Rounds on Sunday July 16 as practice for the coming National Indoor Tournament. Practice starts at 8.30am, shooting starts 9am.

There will be coaching for beginners on Sunday from 9am to 12 at Kerribee Park Archery Range, off Springs Road, Mareeba. Visitors are asked to please ring to confirm attendance. Mareeba Rifle Club

The Mareeba Rifle Club shot a 2 X 800yd comp. on Sunday July 9, 2017. The conditions were perfect with a hint of a breeze that was nothing to write home about.

Saturday was a gorgeous, sunny but cool winter’s day with light winds which our gully managed to turn into turbulence, especially for the afternoon detail in our Internatio­nal Rimfire Benchrest competitio­n.

A reminder that the afternoon detail starts the competitio­n at noon with practice available from about 11.30am or when the morning detail is finished. Thursday’s Social Shoot starts at 8.15 a.m. so that centre-fire shooters can be allocated the correct benches. Don’t forget your morning tea. A small contingent of three members and a Cairns member shot this Saturday. While only slight mirage and minimal wind change favoured some shooters, a couple had mechanical problems
