Souths rue FNQ loss

GETTING back to that park footy feel is the inspiration for John Sutton as the Rabbitohs look to make the most of a “home” fixture in Cairns for the first time since 2014.

The five-eighth was celebrating his 250th game this time last year and said he hoped for a more favourable crowd this weekend to push his side to victory and make it even more memorable.

“I hope there’s a few more Rabbitohs fans than Cowboys this time around, but being up there you have to expect that,” Sutton said. “We look forward to getting away as a group and spending a few nights together up in Cairns, which is great.”

Completions is the word the Rabbitohs will rely on to turn around the 2016 result – a match where the Cowboys enjoyed 59 per cent of the ball and a 20-0 win.

Sutton said the extra winter warmth, with the mercury tipped to go above the Cairns average and hit 27 degrees, made it all the more important.

“The Cowboys starved us of the ball and completed their sets and played a really good game,” he said.

“We’re just looking forward to getting up there and putting on a good performance.

“We just have to keep making sure we’re completing our sets. The Penrith game (a 42-14 Rabbitohs win) we completed highly and we came away with a great win but last week we had a lot of errors and we just couldn’t build any momentum.”
