The Cairns twins, aged nine, are avid readers, according to their mum Gillian Abbott.

“We have strict electronic rules in our house,” she said.

“They’re only allowed two hours a day on the weekend and no electronics on a school night.

“They’re allowed to watch a little bit of TV for half an hour when I’m prepping that’s it.

“We have a massive book collection.”

The sisters have delved into Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge, the latest book offered through the Great Australian tea, but Story Book Collection. The children’s book, written by Mem Fox and illustrated by Julie Vivas, tells the story of a boy who lives next door to a nursing home.

When he finds out that his special friend Nancy Alison Delacourt Cooper is losing her memory he sets out to find what a memory is.
