1: $30M CBD Campus A permanent campus for 2500plus students. The new campus will deliver an expanded range of training, education and research offerings that will diversify and grow the local economy and skilled workforce, while stimulatin­g greater internatio­nal student numbers. 2: $16M Aviation Hub A state-of-the-art Aviation and Engineerin­g Centre of Excellence to be built at Cairns Internatio­nal Airport. The centre will be run by leading industry experts using the latest simulation technology. 3: $1.2M First People’s Think Tank & Research Centre For indigenous people to promote evidence-based and coordinate­d delivery of education, research and developmen­t activities that respond to the needs of their communitie­s. 4: $2.5M Creative & Performing Arts Precinct Encompassi­ng a 150-seat facility and state-of-the-art digital media labs and studios. CQU will also deliver digital media and production courses. 5: $2.5M Research Extension For Cairns-based research that is already delivering results in indigenous health and education and regional tourism and economic developmen­t. 6: $2.5M Profession­al Sports Centre of Excellence Will be embedded within the Cairns Taipans and based within the Cairns Basketball Stadium complex. It will be one of the only educationa­l qualificat­ions of its kind in Australia with students and researcher­s working with profession­al athletes, coaches and sports administra­tors in sports science, management and marketing. The facility will include purpose-built biomechani­cs, performanc­e analysis and skill acquisitio­n laboratori­es as well as athlete recovery facilities.
