On other matters

Green activists like Geoff Holland and his CAFNEC followers should move to Townsville where they are about to dredge 11 times the volume from their shipping channel compared to Cairns’ downscaled volume. No one in Townsville is complaining. Holland’s scaremongering is not needed in Cairns. Small business owner Can’t believe Katter party MP’s still playing crocodile politics. Bob Katter was virtually run out of a town hall meeting with his scare campaign and crocodile shooting safaris. Councillor Olds taking the bait adding his tiresome political spin on the same issue. Local, Cairns Thanks 2 the Indian taxi driver who gave me a free ride home from the Woree tavern on Saturday night so there r sum nice people in this world. Janelle, Woree Dear Commercial FM radio stations. Please stop playing To Her Door, Cherry Bop, or anything by Nickelback. I can only get a couple of stations on my work radio out the back of Port Douglas. It’s starting (to have) me question my sanity. Darren, Palm Cove When will they pull out the other political smoke screen, the flag issue. Pollies need to face the real issue of making Australia profitable. Kevin, Atherton Really. This country is being led by incompetents! We have non-citizens on the taxpayer funded gravy train! We have a Deputy PM who didn’t realise ... wait for it! ... that he’d been to England a few weeks ago after stating he had never been there! The people of this country play second fiddle to personality clashes! That wouldn’t happen in a kindergarten! And have the sheer audacity to give themselves a pay rise whilst gouging the poorest members of society as per usual! When is enough enough? Icarus, Atherton Mitchell, a simple bridge you say. I say the people of Cairns are simple, most drivers still racing through the site trying to be first. I for one use that road to get to and from work and have had no extra disruption or added time to my trip ... stop whingeing it’s a lot quicker than that Caravonica school carpark that was supposed to be ready for this year. Maybe you should ask them why the disruption to traffic flow. Carrie, Manunda Re: Grey Nomads. When I have tried camping at various ratepayer funded camping areas there’s “no room at the inn”. Spots are taken year after year for months at a time by the same people, crowding out locals who also want to enjoy our area’s wonderful sites. DB, Bungalow Hey Frank, Redlynch, yes wind and sunlight as a fuel do just drop out of the sky. Just need to build the smart technology that collects and stores this gift and the then the fuel is free and clean. I do mean “smart” and only fear and politics slow the transition to better power.
