WHEN life dealt the sourest of lemons, a kind Cairns mother and daughter decided to mix up a sweet batch of lemonade.

Shaye and Michelle Kyles said they were left horrified by damage caused in the Forest View Cemetery earlier this week after a man allegedly drove through the plots of dozens of infant children’s graves.

The pair will head to the Foster Rd site tomorrow morning to lay flowers on the 63 affected plots.

“Just the fact that someone has done that and how many people have been affected, we just want to show there is still good in the world,” she said.

“We just want to lay down as many flowers as possible just to brighten the place up.”

Support for the pair’s mission has rolled in since they posted their idea on Facebook and Shaye said they been over- whelmed with offers to donate flowers, including local store Florist Gardens, and assist laying them.

She said they had also been contacted by families of infants buried there who were unable to attend.

“So we’re going to take some photos and send it through to them to show it is still beautiful,” she said.

“It’s horrible what happened, but this was just one person ... and I know there are so many good people in the world.”

A 41-year-old Bentley Park man has been charged over the alleged damage after being arrested at Port Douglas.

He is due to face the Cairns Magistrates Court on September 18 charged with one count each of wilful damage and driving while disqualified.
