POLICE are calling for public help as they investigat­e a lewd incident which took place on Trinity Park beach just over a month ago. A man approached a woman sitting on the beach about 2.20pm on July 20 and made suggestive comments to her before she asked him to leave. He returned soon after and walked to some nearby bushes where he committed an indecent act. She left immediatel­y and called police. Investigat­ors want to speak with anyone who may have witnessed this or any other similar incidents in the Trinity Park Beach area before or after July 20. The man is described as being caucasian, around 175cm tall and of proportion­ate build.

Hypothermi­a case

A MAN has been treated in Cairns Hospital for mild hypothermi­a after becoming unwell on a vessel docked at Portsmith. Paramedics were called to a mooring near Fearnley St just after 2am yesterday. The 59-year-old was taken to hospital in a stable condition. He was discharged during the day.

Boy unhurt in crash

A MAREEBA schoolboy will have a cracking story to tell his schoolmate­s today after being hit by a car and walking away unhurt. The nine-year-old was riding his bike at the intersecti­on of Byrnes and Rankin streets just after 5.30pm yesterday, when a Pplater in a ute struck him. The driver was given a notice to appear in court on a charge of driving without due care.
