FRESH-SPREAD ENERGY
tour are even stronger than ever now that the band has grown up.
“The main difference at our shows is the energy level,” he says.
“I’ve grown up a lot in the last 10 years and I’m not as selfconscious as I was before. I get up there and really enjoy myself now.
“Performing is as much for our enjoyment as it is for everyone else’s. I want to have fun too.”
Butterfingers will be joined at their Tanks Arts Centre show by Elko Fields.
Guitarist and vocalist Kella Vee hails from Cairns and says she’s excited to head back to the city that gave her a start in performing.
“When I lived in Cairns I used to play at the Mareeba RSL, Green Ant Cantina, Salt House, places like that,” she says.
“Cairns has been really kind to me so I’m excited to come back with some original music.”
She says Elko Fields’ grungy sounds seem at odds with Butterfingers’ hip hop tunes but there is more in common between them than most people think.
“We kicked it off straight away as artists even though we have very different tastes,” she says.
“It’s all about the energy, and that’s what we’re going to bring to Cairns together. We’re going to jump on the Butterfingers party.”
Elko Fields will open for Butterfingers at Tanks Arts Centre on Saturday.
