GOLD MEDAL SHORTLIST

-

(IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER BY SURNAME) It wouldn’t be a gold medal count without Robbie Amber on the shortlist. The Shark is a tireless workhorse and shapes as a great chance of taking it out. over the park, wherever needed, and can be counted on when it gets tight. Tualata Fakalelu (Innisfail) Big Lata (pictured) has scared the life out of some players this season since coming to Cairns from across the ditch. The leading tryscorer with 24 this season has a massive chance of getting the gold. Chris Galea (Innisfail) While his teammates seem to get all the accolades, Innisfail would be nowhere with the hard work Chris Galea does week-in week-out. Kienan Grogan-Hayes (Mareeba) A star in the making, Grogan-Hayes has had some highs and lows as any young player would. While his immense talent is obvious, he’s also got plenty of heart, as seen in the major semi last week when he stood up to Tualata Fakalelu. Milton Mossman (Yarrabah) The wise words, and of course the actions, of Milton Mossman have kept Yarrabah on track for much of the season. The belief he instils in young players are second to none. Brent Oosen (Ivanhoes) While some things change year-to-year in the CDRL, others stay the same. Oosen puts his hand up for the tough runs and puts his head where others don’t dare. Gabriel Tognolini (Brothers) It’s hard to believe both Brothers halves are on this list, but it goes to show if one is having an off day, the other takes over. His speed off the mark has caused problems all season. Jacob Rivett (Atherton) While the Roosters have not done as well as 2016, Rivett has not dropped his game. We knew he could score a try, but has been using his skills to set up others. A real chance to win. Jack Willis (Atherton) The energetic half has come on leaps and bounds in his second season of Agrade and after a stint in the Pride under-20s system. His return to the Roosters was a large part of the club surge towards the end of the A-grade season.
