MANY STRINGS TO GIFTED BOW

DANAELLA WIVELL OWNING and managing a recording studio hasn’t stopped musician Wayne McIntosh from jamming with some of the world’s biggest bands.

The guitarist has improvised with many acclaimed musicians.

They include Kevin Borich, Mal Eastick, Phil Emmanuel, Phil Manning, James Morrison and John Morrison.

Now the Whitfield-based instrument­alist is focusing on local gigs while supporting Cairns musicians in their quest to get their music from their instrument­s onto a record. and playing a mix of all the greats I’ve listened to like Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Larry Carlton and Robben Ford.

There are too many good ones to pick just one. Some of the best include Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, B.B. King, Weather Report, The Rolling Stones, Little Feat, Frank Zappa, and Pink Floyd.

Meeting Stevie Wonder and jamming with his band, jamming with Guns N’ Roses, Tommy Emmanuel, doing shows with Ian Moss on the Tablelands, playing, writing and recording with the best musicians in Cairns, playing on and recording albums of music over a number of years, and paying off my house with the proceeds!

I’ve also played with TrineLise Vaering and Fredric Lundin Group, a Danish jazz group that toured Australia, at the Cairns Civic Theatre and Tanks Arts Centre a few years back.

Who knows what’s next? A guy once asked me if I’d been playing all my life and I told him I hadn’t ... yet.

Anyone who loves creative music with a high level of improvisat­ion. by Nancy Sinatra. children in regards to music appreciati­on from an early age as we’ll end up with more discerning, educated audiences which would lead to an overall higher quality of music being performed live. More demanding audiences would definitely impact the music industry in a positive way.
