Bryant’s prolific

CANNON Park trainer Emma Bryant has been at her brilliant best over the past fortnight.

Since greyhound racing at Cannon Park has returned following the Cairns Amateurs Carnival break, Bryant, 65, has trained winners in eight of the last 10 races at the track.

This type of stunning form is not new to the veteran trainer after she trained the entire card at Cannon Park in March of last year.

On Friday evening, the club’s former president tasted victory in four of the six races on offer.

“It went really well,” the modest Bryant said.

“I did not expect my dogs to be doing as well as this but I think the early speed for my dogs help.”

In the two races Bryant did not win, she claimed a second place getter and did not have a starter in the other.

Bryant, who has trained greyhounds since 1984, was pleased to see Displosion win in the second race on Friday night from box five.

Displosion, who had gained just one placing in his last four starts, broke through over 410m on Friday evening.

“It has a bit of a problem with his tendon in a back leg that we need to keep on top off,” Bryant said.

“He is very fast out the box, like most of my dogs, it was good for him to get a win.”

Of the races that Bryant did not dominate, Townsville trainer Rhonda Essery and George Tsakissiris claimed one win each.

Greyhound racing continues from Cannon Park again this Friday evening.
