Give kids push to let minds run wild

THE great outdoors, a vast kingdom for our children to explore and learn.

Well, my backyard isn’t that vast, but there are lots of opportunities for my children to wander around and enjoy.

Watching my children play, I have no doubt children have wonderful imaginations.

However, while they are quite adept at constructing make-believe worlds in their minds once they get going, there are times when children need a little kickstart.

That’s why establishing a yard that has plenty of stimulus can be so important.

Planting flowers and herbs can have your child roaming the greenery captivated by the bright colours and fresh scents or they may be more intrigued by discovering hidden bugs among the foliage.

A small playground will help get them outside and it’ll only be a matter of time until the basic plastic buckets and shovels become parts of a castle, house or even a spacecraft.

Water play is always popular, especially in the Far North, as too are sand pits.

It doesn’t take much to create an interactive environment for you children, a place where they will gladly play for hours.

Let your child use their imaginations to venture to mystical worlds, away from the electronic landscape that is today’s reality.
