Many organisations spruik vegan diets, yoga and living chemicalfree once people have been diagnosed with cancer. But Bloom founder Emma Lodge decided more than five years ago to empower Cairns women to change thier lives and prevent being diagnosed with cancer. She is now in her fifth year of running Bloom Inspiring Wellness — a day-long event bringing the country’s best experts together to encourage wellness.

But Bloom founder Emma Lodge decided more than five years ago to empower Cairns women to change their lives and prevent being diagnosed with cancer.
She said choosing to focus on wellness through her company was an active way to encourage a healthy life.
“I used to do a lot of fundraising for breast cancer,” Ms Lodge said.
“I realised there wasn’t enough focus on prevention, so I started looking at ingredients in food and cleaning products and at overall lifestyles.
“People are healing themselves through lifestyle choices and through nutrition.”
She said the changes in both herself and the people she encouraged to join her were very apparent.
She is now in her fifth year of running Bloom Inspiring Wellness.
It is a day-long event bringing the city and country’s best experts together in order to en- courage wellness.
“When you look at your mindset, your emotional stability, it really is amazing to see the journey it takes you on,” she said.
“It’s incredible. The feedback from people who take part in Bloom is amazing.
“People tell me their lives have changed just from attending that one-day event. “
She said this year’s event featured experts such as Miranda Kerr’s mother Therese Kerr and Dr Greg Emerson.
“An event like this really brings the community together,” Ms Lodge said.
“The biggest reward after all the hard work is knowing that you’ve helped someone.” Bloom Inspiring Wellness is at the Cairns Colonial Club Resort this Saturday from 9am. Tickets are available from Event Brite.
