Arts funding on offer

-

COMMUNITY art groups on the Cassowary Coast are gearing up to take advantage of another round of arts funding.

Mission Arts president Lynda Hannah said the organisation had plenty of creative ideas in the pipeline and many artists and inspirational organisations worked together with Mission Arts on their projects.

Cassowary Coast Regional Council is hosting two information sessions about the Regional Arts Development Fund on Monday.

Ms Hannah said community art would be difficult to support without funding from government organisations.

“We usually apply for funding on behalf of Mission Arts each year,” she said.

“It’s great we are in a position where we are able to support groups who show a bit of initiative.

“In terms of public art, it is a really important part of the fabric of any culture and to be able to develop public art gives the community ownership over it.

“It gives something to that community which is meaningful.”

Brisbane arts consultant Stephen Clark will deliver the workshops from 10am-1pm at Mission Arts, MARCS Park, Mission Beach and 5-8pm at Innisfail Shire Hall, 70 Rankin St, Innisfail.

The information sessions are designed to assist the community with best practice applications and processes to secure funding for innovative arts projects across the Cassowary Coast.

They will also provide an opportunity to discuss how the RADF program could enhance cultural practices and the wider community through the development of skills, partnerships and innovative ideas.

You can register participation by simply emailing cdo@ccrc.qld.gov.au
