Thanks Ivanhoes FC for the fantastic noise pollution and fireworks that scared the crap out of every dog in the neighbourhood. Where was the warning? Unacceptable noise for a peaceful residential area. Jason S, Trinity Park Re: great Weekend Post Editorial last Saturday about NBN. A progressive north needs effective, affordable, communications to function commercially. Good job Jennifer. Denis, Yorkeys Knob

One of the issues for me during the SSM debate, particularly for those who may be opposed, is being labelled homophobic. I actually find the word somewhat offensive as it labels one as prejudiced which, for me, is against one’s right of freedom of speech. I think one of the more important issues is reforming or even getting rid of Section 18C as it is most divisive. The powerful minority gay/ lesbian activists have agendas with regards to changing mainstream ideals and values. You need to ask yourselves, how will it affect me and my family in the future? With 464 Queenslanders a week having their electricity disconnected because of soaring power prices, what’s appalling is the relentless pursuit of renewable energy targets and the gold-plated techniques used by the state-owned power companies. David, Woree

Brisbane. You think you have something to complain about with petrol prices. What about us in the north? Totally ripped off with petrol prices. Jen, Cairns

Spot on, Bill Bates (letters, 9/10). The CO2-warming myth is scientifically busted but the war on CO2 continues as a counterintuitive social imperative. Our politicians are failing us dismally. Higgs, Tolga

Thumbs up to The Good Guys Cairns. Thank you Lauren for service over and above. Don, Earlville

That’s some bucking ride but a bullish battle. So, I reckon bull riding should be banned as a sport, because it’s dangerous. Janelle, Woree

President Trumps comments on the Harvey Weinstein’s sexual harassment scandal are surely the pot calling the kettle black. Geoff, Westcourt

Totally agree with Sue Edge Hill (5/10). There must be thousands of us. I would like to see all pollies and judges be held accountable for what happens on their watch. D, Mission Beach
